Studies Engineer

Job Summary:
The traffic
studies engineer assists in reviewing and analyzing traffic
control problems and recommending corrective action; may assist
in the administration of signal, signing, and striping operations.
The position is governed by the department's Traffic Manual, Manual
on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Highway Capacity Manual,
and related policies. Responsibilities are performed under
moderate supervision. Knowledge of highway engineering
as might be acquired through graduation from an accredited four-year
college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Special Working
Conditions/Job Characteristics:
Work may be performed
during hours other than the regular work schedule.
Occasional overnight
travel required.

Intermediate
Traffic Studies Engineer
Job Summary:
The intermediate
traffic studies engineer assists in reviewing and analyzing
traffic related concerns and recommending transportation facility
improvements; may assist in the administration of signal, signing,
and striping operations. The position is governed by the
department's Traffic Manual, the Highway Capacity Manual, the
manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and related guidelines.
Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Knowledge of transportation engineering as might be acquired through
graduation for an accredited four-year college or university with
a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Registration as
an engineer-in-training is preferred. Two years of experience
with the department in transportation engineering or four years
of experience outside the department in comparable positions.

Senior
Traffic Studies Engineer
Job Summary:
The senior traffic
studies engineer directs the collection of traffic volume,
speed, and accident data; analyzes data for causes and recommends
remedial action; may supervise motor assistance program, signing,
striping and signal, and lighting operations. The position
is governed by the department's Traffic Manual, the Highway Capacity
Manual, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and related
guidelines. Responsibilities are performed under general
supervision. Knowledge of highway engineering as might be
acquired through graduation from an accredited four-year college
or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Registration as an engineer-in-training preferred. Three
years of experience with the department in highway or transportation
engineering or five years of experience outside the department
in comparable positions.
