Transportation Enforcement
Investigator (2 positions)
Location: Springfield
(Note: If the selected
candidate is moving from a non-safety-sensitive job to a safety-sensitive
job and/or moving from a non-physically demanding job to a physically
demanding job, a drug test and/or a physical exam will be required.)
Job Summary:
The transportation
enforcement investigator assists in and/or conducts safety
and compliance reviews, inspections of vehicles, and investigations
of suspected economic violations within a region of the state.
The position is governed by federal and state transportation statutes
and regulations. Responsibilities are performed under moderate
supervision. Knowledge of enforcement/investigative principles
and practices as might be acquired through graduation from an
accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree
in criminal justice, law enforcement, safety, business administration,
or related discipline.
Special Working
Conditions/Job Characteristics:
Job requires regular travel
within the region.
Investigations may be conducted
after normal working hours, outdoors, in unfavorable weather conditions,
in moving traffic, with potential exposure to hazardous materials,
or other potentially dangerous conditions.
Requires ability to climb
on and under commercial vehicles.
Job incumbents will be
required to become certified in North American Standard Inspection,
General Hazardous Materials, Cargo Tank/Bulk Package, Federal
Compliance Review, and Motor Coach courses.
Must reside or be
willing to relocate within 15 miles of assigned area.
