The Route 13 "Gap" project and the Warrensburg East Loop project is in some stage of the right-of-way acquisition process. Some property owners have already been contacted, while others will soon hear from MoDOT right-of-way agents.
The first contact comes as a letter, which notifies property owners of their rights. An appraiser will contact the property owner after that, and prepare an estimate of just compensation. Once that is completed, a right-of-way agent will present an offer to the property owner. The property owner can accept, sign and receive payment in a matter of days. If the offer is not accepted, the property owner has other options that are explained by the right-of-way agent.
