Maintenance Superintendent Butch Anderson, Roadside Manager Mark Aufdenberg, and Roadside Maintenance Supervisor Stacy Armstrong attended an award ceremony to recognize the Adopt-A-Highway efforts of the W.E. Sears Youth Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. The youth center has been active with Adopt-A-Highway for 20 years.

Route 67/Fairgrounds Ribboncutting - - Oct. 1


The Honorable Barbara Lohr, Mayor of Jackson, cuts the ribbon during the Route 34/72 ribboncutting ceremony in Jackson. Other dignitaries present include: Marybeth Williams, Chamber of Commerce; Paul Koeper, Vice President of Penzel Construction Company; The Honorable Jay Purcell, Cape Girardeau County Commissioner; Kristi Nitsch on behalf of The Honorable Jo Ann Emerson, U.S. House of Representatives; Tom Schulte on behalf of The Honorable Kit Bond, U.S. Senate; Mark Shelton, MoDOT Southeast District Engineer; and Eric Kraft, MoDOT Project Manager. Phase two of the Route 34/72 improvement project extended from one mile west of the Route 25 intersection to 2.2 miles west of Route 25, and included widening and resurfacing. It also included the addition of signals, curb and gutter and storm sewer. The contract was awarded in 2006 to Penzel Construction Company, Inc., Jackson.
